A METHOD FOR THE RAPID ESTIMATION OF WHOLE BLOOD IN HOMOGENIZED TISSUE PREPARATIONS
1 From the Biochemical and Cytochemical Laboratories of the Institute of Living, Hartford, Connecticut
A simple, selective, quantitative method for the estimation of whole blood in homogenized tissue preparations is described. This method is based upon the differential absorption of hemoglobin and carbonyl hemoglobin. Recovery experiments from homogenates of rat kidney, heart, liver, and brain are presented.
