THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ACID HYDROLYSIS OF THE FEULGEN REACTION BY BROMINATION
1 Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Department of Morphology, Budapest
Acid hydrolysis can be replaced by bromination in the Feulgen reaction. Under the influence of bromination purine bases are released from deoxyribonucleic acid and potential aldehyde groups are revealed. The bromine-Feulgen reaction can be blocked with aldehyde reagents. Consideration of the mechanism of Feulgen reaction still present some unresolved questions.
