A RELATION BETWEEN TOTAL GLYCOGEN CONTENT OF OX MYOCARDIUM AND ITS HISTOCHEMICAL DEMONSTRATION

Glycogen has been determined chemically in ox myocardium by the anthrone method and histochemically by Gomori's hexamine silver technique. It is concluded from the results that there must be present in the tissue a minimal quantity of glycogen before it can be demonstrated histochemically. A value of 185 µg/100 mg tissue (wet weight) is presented as this quantity.
